Clothing sizes and measurements

Measure the finished garment flat without stretching. Width below the armholes is a flat measurement, while chest circumference goes around the body; do not compare them as identical numbers. Check the starting point for sleeve measurements, especially for raglan designs. Compare the chart with an item that already fits well. Allowance for movement and a base layer depends on construction rather than one universal figure.
